The sun is shining, we’re all recovered from the festive season and it’s the perfect time to catch up with friends and catch the latest action around our great city.
Say hello to your monthly round up of what’s happening in Perth this January.

All the colour and crazy comes to town with this eclectic line up of fun! There’s hundreds of acts playing at more than 150 venues, so check out our ultimate guide to help you easily get your Fringe Binge on!
4 and 18 January
Summer X Salt Markets
Clarko Reserve, Trigg Beach (348 West Coast Highway)
Summer and salt just go hand-in-hand, right? These community markets tap into that lifestyle and there is so much to enjoy including local surf stalls featuring artisans and designers, ocean-friendly products and non-proﬁts, local surfboard shapers and surfboards, single-use plastic-free initiatives (including a mug library!), delicious food trucks, coffee and juice carts, and it’s all set to music!
This is a family fave so pop along, support local then take a dip in the glorious beach. The markets run from 9am-1pm so it’s up to you if you choose to swim before or after!
If you feel like indulging on beer and food (and who doesn’t at this time of year?!), then this tour is right up your literal street!
It’s a three hour walking tour that will take you to three venues to learn all about the best beer and food to be found in Perth’s CBD. In between, you can soak up some of the cool city spots checking out some of our colourful laneways and historic sites.
As well as your appetites and camera, bring comfy walking shoes! The tour starts at 1.45pm and tickets are $85.
14, 18 and 30 January
Cabernet and Canvas
Various locations around Perth
Indulge your inner artist and enjoy the spoils of a cheeky drink to get your creativity flowing as you paint and pour in this fun, hands on art class.
The classes run all over Perth and each one focuses on a different image as inspiration for you to paint. In January you can choose from “Sakura Bloom” at the Como Hotel (14 January), “Far Horizons” at the Make Place, Mandurah (18 January) or “Lands End” at Bistro 38, Joondalup (30 January).
Tickets are $65 and that includes $15 towards your meal. Get in early as spots are limited.
Sun and Bass
Indian Ocean Hotel,23 Hastings St, Scarborough
For the first time, the vibes of the world renowned Sun and Bass will be coming to Perth! It’s a pool party to remember with drum and bass tunes, amazing food and chilled beverages.
It’s the end of the school holidays (almost…!) so why not celebrate at the Big Summer Story Time along the banks of the glorious South Perth foreshore.
It’s a free event (but needs you to RSVP) and perfect for the young and young at heart. Pack a morning tea and grab a spot with some mates. The event runs from 9am-10.30am which means the rest of the day is yours to explore the area, including the newly opened Mindeerup at Connect South.
