There’s nothing like a summer Sunday brunch, complete with stunning water views is there? Well, I’ve found quite the spot for you! The Pines Cafe, Mandurah.
They first captured my curiosity (and excitement) with their gorgeous Instagram account (@thepinescafemandurah). The photos are brilliant! The Pines is located right next to the Dawesville Cut bridge and their outdoor cafe area makes the most of the stunning views (where the estuary meets the ocean).
When you walk in, everything looks bright and fresh, you are greeted by friendly staff who immediately bring you water, menus, and also offer table service (while still maintaining a lovely laid back feel). You’re made to feel welcome (and just so you know – your pets are too!). We ordered our drinks first – juice for my 5 year old and I, as well as great coffee for my caffeine addicted husband. When my little dude couldn’t quite get the hang of drinking out of a big glass without spilling juice all over himself, a lovely angel appeared out of nowhere and offered to switch it with a takeaway cup. Now that’s great, attentive service!
My son enjoyed fruit toast, I had the chia pudding (it comes with generous dollops of Nutella – need I say more) and my husband had a bagel. A breakfast bagel that he started to devour before I could take a photo of it, even though I had already told him to wait because I have this job on the internet where the people might like to see it. Ha! He sheepishly said it was because it just looked so good. He wasn’t wrong!
After eating your breakfast, lunch or even dinner (on a Friday or Saturday night), it is well worth heading out for a stroll along the water or up across the bridge (if you don’t mind heights)! You can spot dolphins a lot of the time and it’s so nice being near the water.
Visiting The Pines is well worth the trip out (it’s a 10-15 minute drive south of the centre of Mandurah). Whether you visit for a lunch/brunch/weekend dinner date or as part of a day trip that makes the most of the beautiful waterways (there are great cycling/walking paths in the area as well as fantastic activities to be enjoyed on the water), you won’t be disappointed.
