Having never stepped foot inside La Lola Perth before, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but after the authentic experience we received by the incredible staff at La Lola, I know I will be back for sure!
La Lola is owned by the lovely Nat and Tony who also own the traditional Italian Restaurant, ‘Ilpasto’ in Inglewood. Having been in the mining industry for the last twenty years, Nat and Tony took a leap of faith (approximately three years ago) and purchased their first small successful restaurant Ilpasto. Two years on and having made some fantastic changes to their original restaurant, La Lola came up for sale and with initially no intention of purchasing a second restaurant, Tony and Nat unexpectedly bought La Lola and relaunched it in May of this year.
Nat advised that there was just something about La Lola that took their breath away when they walked in and let me tell you, she isn’t wrong! From the moment we stepped into La Lola we were greeted with incredible customer service! Francesca, Erico and Camila were our servers for the evening and their customer service was excellent! Having come from Rome, Italy themselves, Francesca and Erico had a real authenticity about them. They were both extremely knowledgeable, funny, professional and ensured we were looked after at every possible moment. Camila and Francesca kept the food coming without us ever having to ask or wait and when each dish was presented Francesca and Erico provided us with the details surrounding each meal, where the produce came from and what fresh ingredients were used in the dishes. They also took the time to give us sound meal recommendations when we found it hard to choose between all the amazing options!
La Lola is a quaint restaurant with two lots of indoor seating (one area can also be considered a function room for up to 20 guests) as well as a section of outdoor seating. They have daily specials on the menu board with their menu also offering a number of Gluten free options – Winning! LA Lola have also recently started a campaign where they are providing . paramedics, firefighters, police coffee at a reduced rate and will be donating 50% of the proceeds of coffee sales to Telethon. Amazing right?! They are also more than happy for customers to bring their own favourite bottle of wine to indulge in with their meal or of course you can purchase from their fully licensed bar which has a variety of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails – try the La Lola! However, at the end of the day it is all about the food at La Lola!
Open 6 days a week (for breakfast, lunch and dinner) La Lola gives you countless meal options including Antipasti / share plates, Pasta dishes, mains, sides and of course desserts. La Lola’s inspiration is to serve modern Italian cuisine using the freshest ingredients and local produce with a price that is affordable for all to enjoy. What’s not love about that? And can I say, that is exactly what La Lola Perth delivers!
With an amazing chef team including a brother (exec chef) and sister (head chef) duo creating the magic out the back, we were blessed with some extremely tasty Italian dishes. Sharing an antipasti of hand crafted bread, house marinated olives, vincotto, EVOO before diving into an incredibly beautifully presented share plate Polipo alls griglia which was chargrilled Fremantle octopus (keeping it local), sautéed spinach chickpeas sugo, we were already in Italian heaven!
For mains, it was the Pappardelle Duck (one of the most popular La Lola dishes) and one of their specials of the night, Ravioli filled w/ricotta and spinach in a four cheese sauce. Delicious is an absolute understatement! We didn’t think we could fit in dessert but you know what they say, when in Rome! On Francesca’s recommendation we eagerly ordered the Truffle semifreddo (yes you heard right – truffle in a dessert!) w/ pistachio crumble and a decadent salted caramel chocolate tart.
What can I say but WOW La Lola Perth. Your customer service was of such a high standard as was your authentic Italian dishes. We got to indulge in some laughs, we were served with love and the food was nothing short of beautiful. Full of fresh ingredients and flavours I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that I will be back and soon to try some of the other highly raved about dishes on the menu. Thank you for not just giving us a meal but an experience! Check out their fabulous menu here: http://lalola.com.au/ and don’t forget to tag @perthhappenings in all your La Lola snaps.
