Drinks were filled and the atmosphere aroused in the West Australian Spiegeltent last night for the opening night of Fringe’s highly anticipated ‘Circus Cision’. Brought to you by the eccentric lads from Head First Acrobatics, who you will no doubt know from their past smash hit Fringe show ‘Elixir’, ‘Circus Cision’ is a show that impresses with different guest artists and a changing cast each night. Their skill is of such a high calibre that will you be mouth open from start to finish!
It is true what they say that no opening show is without a few hiccups but the lads handled it well with smart humour, getting the crowd engaged early as their mic’s were sound checked in the opening act. Cal Harris is the not only the MC of the night but he is a familiar face (2018 Elixir Fringe World) who has you laughing from start to end with his offensive jokes and tricks (wait ‘til you see what he can do with a balloon and his nose!) His acrobatic skills are to be absolutely applauded too, being able to move his body in ways that I can only dream of. The pure strength and talent of this man does not go unnoticed!
There is no messing around in this Fringe show as the crew dive right in, introducing the beautiful and extremely talented ‘Chelsea Angell’ who makes working with hoops look utterly seamless! Her craftsmanship is flawless and her performance could not be faulted. I thought twirling one hula hoop was hard but she made whirling four look like a piece of cake! With a wink and a bow she left the crowd pretty well hypnotised by the end of her routine.
The rest of the show followed suit just as impressively. From the likes of a guest appearance by Irishman ‘Logy’, from the show ‘1 Pint 2 Many’, who had us all in constant giggles while he wowed us with his cigar box tricks to ‘Thomas Gorgham’ spinning on his head like it was nobody’s business! The talent in this show was a true reflection of some serious hard work, absolute body strength and boundless dedication by all involved!
There were back muscles for daaaaaaays with ‘Harley Timmermans’ and ‘Jessica Robbins’ bending their bodies in way I didn’t know was humanly possible! The pure strength they showed in holding poses that had me holding my own abs, like I could feel the burn they were emitting, was easily applaud worthy ! ‘Adam O’Connor and ‘Aj Saltalamacchia’ were the performers who made juggling balls, ten pin bowling pins and umbrellas look easy! Sounds far from easy I know but they did it and not with just 1 or 2 but with up to 6 juggling items. Impressive to say the least.
Oh and did I mention a few of the boys get their kit off? Their full kit…
Well, let’s leave that one to the imagination or you can see for yourself when you buy a ‘Circus Cision’ ticket 😉
Extremely hot and a little frisky, this is an incredibly skilful acrobatic hit that you won’t want to miss this Fringe season!
