Cat Haven are urging anyone considering adding a new feline friend to their family this Christmas to choose adoption!
“There is a still an idea that a lot of kittens and cats end up at the shelter after Christmas as unwanted pets but we have found that this is not generally the case. We get more cats surrendered to us before Christmas when owners cannot find care for them while they are away over the holidays or have missed getting their cat into a boarding facility in time. There is a big influx of owned cats being surrendered to Cat Haven just before Christmas on top of the huge numbers of kittens and pregnant cats arriving daily as Summer is cat breeding season ” Lauren Nesbitt, Cat Haven Media & Fundraising Assistant said.
As Cat Haven rely on the generosity of the public to keep their doors open they are asking anyone who is unable to adopt to consider making a donation so they can continue to help over 8,500 cats that come into their care each year.
Cat Haven are currently caring for over 375 cats at the shelter and are hoping to find forever homes for as many as possible this Christmas. They are open every day for adoptions (except Christmas Day) and their adoption hours can be found on their website www.cathaven.com.au
So this Christmas make it extra special by saving a little fury friend !
