WA Day: Top 10 Picks for your Long Weekend!

It’s time to celebrate Perth and there’s nothing we do better than a long weekend! So to ensure you celebrate this fabulous weekend in style here are my Top 10 WA Day Events to get along to. Don’t forget to tag us in all of your adventures with #perthhappenings

1. SOTA – State of the Art Festival
When: Monday June 4th, 12pm – 9pm
Where: Elizabeth Quay, Perth
A HUGE free event for all ages! Come down to the EQ and celebrate Perth with a truly unique and entirely Western Australian line-up! From Birds of Tokyo to Psychedelic Porn Crumpets to John Bennett. This incredible mix of old and new artists will have you celebrating in true style. With plenty of food trucks, an even better under 18’s area and the licensed area of us oldies, you won’t need to leave!

2. WA Day at Hilary’s Boat Habour
When: Monday June 4th 11am – 3pm
Where: Sorrento Quay Boardwalk, Hilarys Boat Habour
Be sure to finish off your long weekend with a little family friendly fun down on the boardwalk! With the West Oz Wildlife show bringing you a heap of cuddly Aussie animals to meet plus live entertainment and face painting throughout the day.

3. WA Day Winter Festival Mandurah
When: Monday June 4th 4pm – 8pm
Where: Eastern Mandurah Foreshore
This WA Day try something different and exciting! Make Place Mandurah bring you a fantastic free evening of entertainment to not only celebrate WA Day but the beginning of a glorious winter season. Come along for the amazing food, grab a picnic and hunker down on the foreshore. Chillout with a huge array of entertainment from traditional Japanese Taiko Drumming performances and Indigenous Corroboree, to Spanish Salsa and Bollywood demonstrations! You can embrace everything that WA is right here on the beautiful Mandurah foreshore!

4. WA Day Festival Rottnest Island
When: Friday June 1st – Monday June 4th 8am – 5pm
Where: Rottnest Island
What would WA be without good ole Rotto! So can you think of nothing better than spending your whole long weekend there in style! Take advantage of their Book 3 Nights and stay the 4th night free deal and enjoy a whole weekend of festivities! With Aboriginal dancing and smoking ceremonies, beach bonfires and storytelling, face painting and plenty of entertainment, you definitely won’t want to leave!

5. Celebrate WA Festival 2018
When: Sunday June 3rd – Monday June 4th, 10am – 5pm
Where: Fremantle Fishing Boat Habour
Fremantle comes alive this WA Day with a special 2-day festival! Roving entertainment, children’s fashion parades, Little Creature’s mermaids and pirate’s sandpit storytelling, face painting, pirate crafts and so much more will have you booked solidly for the day. Finish your Sunday off with some jazz and a spectacular firework display over the harbour. Then come on back and do it all again on the Monday with even more fantastic live music. This would have to be the perfect way to spend your long weekend!

6. WA Day Eve Party at Paramount
When: Sunday June 3rd, 6pm – 2am
Where: Paramount Nightclub, James St, Northbridge
Kick your WA Day celebrations off right with an epic Sunday sesh at the Paramount. Featuring 2 levels complete with rooftop bar, jungle cabana and beer garden you’ll be spoilt for choice. With an epic line up of RNB, HIP HOP and party DJ’s this is one way to truly welcome WA Day in with style! Be sure to get your early bird tickets now!

7. WA Day Long Weekend
When: Sunday June 3rd and Monday June 4th, 8.30am – 4pm
Where: Naked Apple Cider, Brookton Hwy, Karragullen
Did you know that not only is Sunday WA Day Eve, but it also happens to be World Cider Day! Now you have twice the reason to visit Naked Apple Cider in the hills this long weekend! Be sure to come for a fantastic Sunday sesh with live music and then again on Monday too. Be sure to try their Wozzie burger and pint special!!

8. Yorkids – A Winter Adventure
When: Saturday June 2nd and Sunday June 3rd, 11am – 5pm
Where: Avon Tce, York
Why not get seriously dirty this long weekend with a brand-new event, only a hop, skip and a jump over those Perth Hills! Come and visit York this long weekend for an epic weekend of kid’s activities. Kick it all off with a visit to the Mud Monsters Ball, yup it’s as dirty and awesome as it sounds! But be sure to swing my the kids cookery, check out some of the roving entertainers and finish it all off with light projections and spooky tales at the Town Hall. Then come back Sunday for campfire cooking, laser tag, face painting and an animal farm! There’s just too many fabulous activities to list! 9. WA Day at Elmar’s
When: Monday June 4th, 12pm – 3pm
Where: Elmar’s in the Valley, West Swan Rd, Henley Brook
Spend a chilled out long weekend at Elmar’s in the Valley with a fantastic selection of food, fine beers and the incredible tunes from Ben Merito! With a huge grassed area, plenty of tables in the beer garden and a playground for the kids everyone is catered for at Elmar’s. Be sure to call ahead and book a table though or you might just miss out!

10. Carnival Fever!
When: Saturday June 2nd, Sunday June 3 & Monday June 4th, 10am - 5pm
Where: Cannington Exhibition Centre & Showgrounds, Albany Hwy, Cannington
Now this has to be the perfect way to spend your WA Day long weekend folks! For just one entry price you get access to an awesome array of rides and entertainment! How cool is that! Normally you'd have to pay every time you went on a ride, but not at Carnival Fever! While you're at it test your ability on the game stalls and indulge on the divine food trucks. This event is perfect for all ages, with littlies under 2 free and group tickets available. Be sure to snag your early bird discount tickets now before they're all snapped up!
