Keeping it real in our City

Valentines in the Valley

Funk Cider in Swan Valley was already one of my favourite places, with their sweet range of flavoured ciders, chilled vibes and green grassy areas. But since Urban Food Mafia joined the crew and started serving up delish food, it’s next level.

This year for V-Day I took a friend-date to their Valentine’s in the Valley pop-up movie night and wasn’t able to contain myself at the deliciousness in a box that we were given to enjoy with the movie. Along with our glass of pomegranate cider (yumm!), we were given a personalised menu with our picnic box so we knew exactly what incredible goodies were in front of us.

As someone with a gluten + dairy intolerance - I was freakin’ stoked at the quality and taste of the seeds, nuts, dried fruit, dips, crackers, salad, and more that I was treated to. My friend - being lucky enough to be able to eat whatever she likes - was treated to buttery pork pies, creamy cheeses, and charcuterie.

Literally for the 20 minutes we took to devour our picnic boxes, our conversation went something like this:
“Oh my gosh, this is amazing”
“Try this”
“Is this for real?”
“I can’t remember the last time I tasted food this fresh”

Fresh hummus, capsicum dip, olive & sun-dried tomato tapenade and crunchy seed bread made my mouth-water - and dessert for me was a soft chocolate cake with fresh strawberries on top. And after that - we settled in with our picnic rug, cushions and blankets to watch Valentine’s Day - a fave and one I could watch again and again.

So, even if I didn’t have a traditional ‘romantic’ Valentine’s this year - it was pretty incredible, all thanks to the team at Urban Food Mafia + Funk Cider.
