Keeping it real in our City

St Patrick's Day without the Guinness - Our Fave Four Events!

When I say St Patrick’s Day, do the images of green leprechauns, drinking copious amounts of alcohol and terribly imitating Irish accents come to mind?

Whilst traditionally the day marks the death of patron Saint Patrick on March 17th , todays traditions are for most, an excuse to get your party on and whip out your finest green gear.

This can get boring fast- so I’m gonna give you 4 ways to celebrate that aren’t just heading down to the local pub!

St Patrick’s Day at Elmars

This FREE family-friendly event at Elmars in the Valley has all the goods to provide you and the fam with a day jam-packed-full of fun.

For the little ones there will be face painting, bouncy castles and outdoor games to keep them busy all day.

For the big kids there will be live music to get your boogie on plus BBQ’s and of course some German beers.

St Patrick’s Day Parade

This one is for all the dog lovers out there (guilty!). The Irish Setter Club of WA is hosting a FREE parade day in Leederville.

Encouraged to dress to the nines, you can also bring along your favourite pooch to join in the festivities.

Join the club afterwards for a drink or two and chin-wag about your adorable doggos.

St Patrick’s Day at the Kalamunda Farmers Market

If drinking isn’t your thing, Kalamunda’s local Farmers Market is hosting a FREE Irish-themed market day open to the public.

Open from 8am-12pm there will be a live Irish band set to perform whilst you browse the local wares and make some killer purchases.

St Patrick’s Raceday 2019

Head on down to Asoct Racecourse this St Paddy’s for a day full of racing and good times.

With a range of traditional Irish-themed food and bevvies, there will also be live Irish music.

For something more casual, hit up Picnic at Ascot, which offers picnic hampers and reserved trackside seating.

Whatever you decide to do this St Patricks’s Day, make sure you make the most of the day and try to do something different!

Cassie Hunter

I’m Cassie, an almost-23-year-old dog mum to one super-naughty jack Russell pup and a Perth girl through and through. One of my favourite places on earth is the beach, having never lived more than a 5-minute drive away!

I have a degree in event management, public relations and tourism and hospitality from Curtin University. My average week consists of planning killer events ranging from charity balls to product launches at the fabulous Known Associates Events. When I’ve got some downtime on my hands you’ll find me lazing around binging the hottest new thang on Netflix or totally engrossed in whatever paperback thriller I can get my hands on.

I absolutely live and breathe events and love getting the latest scoop on what’s happening on Perth. As an event manager myself, I can tell you there’s always something exciting going on in our city!
