Keeping it real in our City

Peppermint Green - your new local!

We all love a hidden gem, right? Well for all you north-siders – I’ve found the perfect one, and it’s a vibrant, modern café in the heart of Joondalup known as Peppermint Green.

What looks like a small café from the outside is actually so much more, with tables, couches and comfy chairs in abundance and books, toys and games to keep the little ones entertained. A beautiful open window covers the back of the café, perfect for those bright, sunny Perth days, and at Peppermint Green – you walk into an atmosphere that really makes you want to stay – and so that is EXACTLY what we did!

Rocking up at 9am and leaving just after lunchtime, I’ve decided that Peppermint Green is the perfect spot for a work meeting, a catch up, a place to do some study, or a place to just have some quality me-time. With free Wi-Fi – you just can’t really go wrong.

The perks don’t stop there though, because at PG, you can forget about the afternoon Happy Hour and start your day the right way, with $3 coffee from 7am-8am. These guys care, which is why all take-away hot drinks are served in the compostable, recyclable and visually pleasing take-away cups that are made with love by BioPak.

Open from 7am-2pm Monday to Friday and 8am-12pm on Saturday, there’s no excuse not to visit this place. With the wonderful House of Leda greeting you as you walk through the door, and the friendly, smiling faces of Justine and her wonderful staff greeting you as you enter the open café space, you instantly feel welcomed and at home. You can choose food from the cabinet or select a dish from their awesome menu. Either way, you know you won’t be disappointed.

I was lucky enough to be the first EVER person to try one of their newest menu additions – the Maple Bacon Pancakes with Banana. Let me tell you that it was one hell of a meal and would receive a solid 10/10 from me any day of the week. Pi had the Smashed Avo on Vegemite Toast (PROPER NAME) (controversial combo – but I am a HUGE fan) and although we both LOVED our meals, I think we definitely both had food envy.

Before we left, we obviously had a quick squizz at the goodies that make up House of Leda, and then we got on with out days (however I’m sure we could have sat there forever).

So, if you’re in the area and you’re looking for a cosy, reasonably priced, delicious café to pay a visit – I’ve just given you a plethora of reasons as to why Peppermint Green is the one. Lauren Higham

I’m Lauren and I’ve lived in Perth for the whole 23 years of my life.

By day, I’m the Marketing Coordinator at the wonderful Perth Happenings and by night, you’ll either find me paying my local Zambrero a visit, craving the 'Cheesecake' flavoured ice cream from Gusto Gelato or watching crappy reality shows on TV. My favourite Friday night consists of watching footy on the couch with some brie cheese and crackers, and on my weekends, I thoroughly enjoy sleep ins and yoga. I'm a big fan of living as green and as naturally as possible and I'm also a bit of a neat freak.

I love getting out and about in this great little city we call home; Hawkers Markets, Farmers Markets, The Hopman Cup, a Wildcats game, the movies, a music event – you name it, the list goes on. You’ll often catch me around the Vic Park area, but I’ll go anywhere for a good time.
