Keeping it real in our City

Feel the love this Valentine's Day

💕 Valentine’s Day. 💕 It can either be the most loved event on a social calendar; a chance to share your love with the world or it can be a loathed display of commercialism and PDAs. (Yuck!)

At Perth Happenings, we love love in all its forms and Valentine ’s Day is no different so we are sitting firmly with the former!

Whether you are celebrating with your significant other, your best friends or even going solo, here are our top picks to make Valentine’s Day great again!

Rooftop Movies

What’s better than seeing a cheesy romance movie with your loved ones on Valentine’s Day? How about seeing it from the top of a skyscraper, surrounded by the star’s and Perth’s skyline?! This year you can catch the quintessential romantic flick, The Notebook playing at Rooftop Movies for V-day, for only $16! Throw in some of the yummy food they have on offer like wood-fired pizzas, popcorn, sweets from the candy bar and a couple of beers or glasses of wine and you have got yourself one romantic date night!

Parking is easy given its location on top of the City of Perth Roe Street Car Park building, or you can catch in the train in and be there in a quick 8 minute walk (or a little longer if you are inclined to romantic strolls).

Visit www.rooftopmovies.com.au to snag your tix to this one quick as this date always sells out!

Fringe World shows

What better way to spend the international day of love that laughing yourself silly at a Fringe World show? There are heaps to select from on Valentine’s Day but here are a couple we think fit the bill perfectly!

F**k tindr is billed as “The only comedy event exclusively for single people!” Hosted by Scottish comedian Chris Henry, this show is all about getting people off their phones and actually talking, sharing a laugh with each other and having fun.

Sort of like a speed dating session, your host will introduce different topics and various elements to keep things moving while you mingle with other singles and potentially meet some person of your dreams!

If you loved watching Sophie Monk shack up with (surprise surprise) the only millionaire on the show or watching Matty J find love with a Georgia Love look-alike, then you’ll love (Not) The Bachelor Live hosted by Luke Bolland!

Join comedian Luke Bolland as he takes a Bachelor or Bachelorette and three singles and attempts to make a match based on hysterical questions and games! But here’s the clincher: anyone could win the date - even an audience member!

Thursday Juan Rando Dance Academy in Subiaco host free 30-minute intro dance classes and everyone is welcome!

On Valentine’s day, the classes on offer are Cuban Salsa or West Coast Swing but there is no need to choose…. Why not have both! Leah Worthington‎

Hi! I’m a country girl at heart though having moved around a lot when I was young; I’ve lived in the Goldfields, the Wheatbelt and the Avon Valley, but I’ve spent most of my life in Busselton in the South West.

I love going to live gigs and events, and on weekends you’ll often find me in cafes embarrassing my boyfriend by taking terrible photos of our food #brunchclub or taking way too many selfies with Cleo.

I love discovering new things to do in Perth and trying new places, which is why I’m so excited to be writing for Perth Happenings, where I can do just that!
