​July School Holidays - Your Guide to Keeping the Kids entertained… and saving your sanity!

It’s almost that time again! Whether you’re excited or silently screaming inside, School Holidays seem to sneak around the corner when we’re least expecting them. But there’s no need to lose your sanity this July! We’ve picked the top 10 events to take the kids to, some that you might even find yourself enjoying!

1. Latitude Perth
Where: 57 Joondalup Dr, Edgewater
When: Open from 9am during school holidays 7 days a week
This new and seriously awesome place is every kids (and let’s admit it, adults) dream come true. Comprising of a mix of climbing walls and trampolines plus an epic parkour inspired ninja course there is no doubt in my mind, you and your kids will have the BEST time here! With a kids zone for under 5 year olds even your youngest will be sorted while the oldies bounce, climb and fly their way through the holidays.

2. Southwest Mudfest
Where: Bootleg Brewery, Wilyabrup
When: Saturday July 7th, 9am – 1pm
An epic 5km seriously muddy obstacle course for the whole family! I mean hey, it’s Winter after all, you might get wet… so you might as well get muddy! So grab your family and friends, register your team, dress up and hit the tracks and take part in this fantastic event! And for the first time the Muddy Paws Challenge will be joining in too! So bring your four legged furry friends and let them help you complete the specially design canine friendly course in the afternoon. This really is the perfect event for everyone, or all abilities, ages and well… number of feet!

3. Heart of Wonderland
Where: Mandurah Forum, Mandurah
When: July 2nd – 14th, 10am – 2pm
Experience Wonderland these school holidays in a never before seen magical world full of teapots, mad hatters and fantasy! A FREE event at the Mandurah forum this magical kingdom will be sure to delight the oldest and the youngest among us!

4. Adventure Days School Holiday Program
Where: Swan Valley Adventure Centre
When: July 2nd – 13th
The Swan Valley Adventure Centre’s school holiday program is back again this July with even more fun to be had. Specifically designed for 7-14 year old’s this is the perfect way to spend a day outdoors having the most spectacular fun. With a flying fox, commando course, archery, high ropes and lunch included your kids will love getting involved and daring themselves to finish the course. What better way to make new friends, work on team building and confidence and having a boatload of fun in the process. Bookings essential.

5. The Zoo Crew

Where: Perth Zoo, South Perth
When: Select dates, July 2nd – 13th
If you have a budding zoo keeper on your hands this might just be the perfect way to spend a day these school holidays. There’s a program for all ages as well. A to Zoo for the littlies, Keeper Kids for the 5-7 yr olds, Zoo Crew for the 8-13 year olds and more! Let your youngsters spend a day learning all about what just goes into caring for some of our most spectacular creatures all the while getting up close and personal with them. Learn how you can save the wildlife, play zoo games and participate in challenges. This is a day they will never forget.
Be sure to keep your eyes peeled too, something big is coming to Perth Zoo on July 2nd!

6. Winter School Holidays at Araluen Botanic Park
Where: Araluen Botanic Park, Roleystone
When: July 4th – 12th, 10am – 12pm
The little nature conservationists in the family will truly enjoy a day spent at Araluen Botanic Park. The July school holiday program will have them building bird feeders, planting bulbs for the upcoming spectacular bulb season and taking a walk with the parks’ horticulturalists. Bring the whole family and have a picnic on the grass and take in the truly stunning surrounds. Tickets are only $5 for kids, adults pay for admission to the park.

7. Winterworld Fremantle
Where: Esplanade Reserve, Fremantle
When: Now – 15th July, 8am – 10pm
I mean I couldn’t mention July School Holidays without mentioning Winterworld Fremantle. I mean what’s a perfect way to spend a winters day… with fake snow! With an outdoor skating rink (so you can really feel like you’re anywhere but in Oz!), a real snow pit, giant inflatable slide plus kids craft activities you’re pretty much set. Throw in a fire pit, great eats and some mulled wine and us parents can call it quits! I think that’s pretty much school hols done, am I right? Bookings are essential!

8. George’s Marvellous Medicine

Where: State Theatre Centre, Williams St, Perth
When: July 4th – 8th
Who doesn’t love sharing and exploring the world of Roald Dahl with their kids. I mean there’s something inherently wonderful about it. Well these school holidays you can now share the wonder in a bigger and better way. With a Shake and Stir Theatre Co and QPAC Production of George’s Marvellous Medicine. Cleverly adapted from Roald Dahl’s classic book this production literally bounds off the pages and onto the stage. Seats are limited and if the sell out Sydney production is anything to go by, I suggest getting in early!

9. School Holiday Circus
Where: CirQuest Circus, Howlett St, North Perth
When: July 3rd – 12th, 9am – 5pm
If getting outdoors in the possible rain isn’t your thing but you still want to get the kids active (and not climbing up your own walls!) then this is the place to be. Book the kids into a class at the ever popular School Holiday circus where they’ll learn acrobatics, trapeze, juggling, silks, stilt walking, unicycling, staff twirling oh so much more! At one stage or another I think we all wanted to run away with the circus… well now your kids really can!.. for a day at least.

10. Kids Yoga Workshop
Where: The Yoga Space, Colin St, Perth
When: Wednesday July 11th, 3pm – 5pm
If letting your kids climb the walls (quite literally) isn’t you thing then maybe this might be! A special once off kids yoga workshop during the school holidays with a cool camping vibe. East some campfire marshmallows, join in on the craft activities and learn the joy of yoga with special class. Certainly a relaxing but fun way to kill two hours! Tickets are essential.
