Keeping it real in our City

Clean Up Australia Day - Let’s Make a Difference!

I think by now you’ve probably figured out at that we here at Perth Happenings are all about getting out and about in your local community. Any reason will do! But we especially love it when you don’t just get involved, but support a damn god cause while you’re at it! It’s a pretty amazing feeling, meeting a bunch of people and actually making change happen! So that’s why, for Clean Up Australia Day we want to encourage you to not only get out and about in your local community, but to help us make a difference!

Did you know that there’s over 8 tonnes of rubbish floating around our oceans? Actually, over 8 tonnes enter our ocean every single year!! An ocean that we Perthians happen to cherish! I mean would Perth be Perth without Scarbs? Thanks to over 500,000 volunteers last year an incredible 14,000 tonnes of rubbish was cleaned up! How amazing is that! But that’s still barely putting a dent in it. So this Sunday March 4th, or any day really, you can get out, get involved and help make a big difference to our world.

It’s not hard to help out either! Simple jump across to and pick a site to clean up! You can join in a team that’s already existing or pick a location and start one yourself! Or better yet, check out my Top 8 places to help out this Clean Up Australia Day!

Stacey Dadd

Hey I’m Stacey! I’m just a Champagne swilling country girl living out my best life here in Toodyay with my stupidly tall hubby, my not so little, tornado of a toddler and a plethora of animals, including some very friendly sheep!

A country girl all my life I understand the values that come with living in a small town. That’s why you’ll find me at every local farmers market, agricultural show and tractor pull (yes we still have those!). That community spirit is what it’s all about for me!

I’m also a keen foodie (gluten free of course!) and I’m a mad baker! I look forward to showing off the best Perth and the Wheatbelt has to offer and maybe even enticing you out over those hills for a spell!
